This reminds me of lockdown. Being separated from my partner for months because we lived across borders and both in the vulnerable category. And something more besides, now. How life can be, is being, is going.
Oh goodness, yes. So much of this. I feel sad for all of us.
“Sometimes you catch your reflection in the dark screen and wonder whether you’ve become too fluent in distance.” I hope I never do. It’s difficult though, in this strange world where certain things are accepted as ‘normal’ ways of relating to others.
Yes, absolutely. What do you think… how can we make this better? I think about loneliness a lot (and I write about connection a lot, so there you go! haha)
I have really been enjoying and appreciating all your words/posts I’ve read. Thank you for sharing.
Loneliness isn’t just a lack of company—it’s a surplus of noise, with no true contact. You scroll to feel less alone, and end up more fragmented. You learn to craft versions of yourself, calibrated for approval. The phone becomes a mirror that reflects nothing back. This says, much better, what so many of us have tried to convey.
Oh man... You nailed this piece! Every paragraph is loaded with gems. Such thoughtful and astute insights. Really! You captured this disembodied ephemera we live in on our screens... Well done!

Hello stranger 😊 thank you so much 💕
💕
♥️♥️♥️
I had a virtual love affair for a year. It was exciting and exhilirating, but it would never go anywhere. It left me empty. ❤️
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean 💕
tender, truly
Thank you so much! ☺️
Absolutely beautiful

Read more books, I guess.

Thank you for this. Yes it’s sad but all so true for so many people.

So many can relate to these feelings, this is so powerful. Food for thought for sure.
You captured this online existence and loneliness perfectly well.
The lingering hurt fills me with despair
Painful memories of loss
An enormous void fills my soul
Attempting to reconcile emotions within
Bargaining with myself
Making deals that I can never repay
Hopeful arrangements to obtain tiny bits of joy
Relishing the flavor of scraps of my former life
Peace of mind seems a distant possibility?
