Thank you! Nothing embarrassing about that, there are hundreds of books I should of read but never have. It was a pleasure to re-read it, but don’t tell anyone ok? 🤣

I’ve been thinking about this novel a lot lately in our contemporary world with omnipresent EarPods and book cancellations. Sometimes it makes me shiver. Thanks for sharing!

That’s why I picked it, it seemed to fit with a lot that’s going on in the world at the moment. Unfortunately.

It’s wild how so many dystopian books are published also as spec fiction and eventually fit more seamlessly with life as time progresses. :/

It’s scary how often that happens, and F451 isn’t even the worst example of our possible future. Brave New World is much more depressing and frightening.

Yet another excellent essay, my friend! Fahrenheit 451 hits home especially nowadays with the way things are culturally in many countries. We must preserve even ugly truths, for they warn us how to be better.

Thanks lovely ☺️

Great read! Sad/scary to think that book/literature burning could happen again, but on a more global scale. I guess I’m adding Farenheight 451 to my new pile of tbr list (next to Ms. Woolf)!

Thank you so much 😊 That is the scary thing, will all the ridiculous book bans happening, burning could be the next step. Sorry for adding to your reading pile though 🤣

No no, I need to branch out my tbr pile so this good😹

Haha that’s ok then. I might even have something more book related to share later this week...📚

I enjoyed it but didn't love it. However, it felt like an important piece of literature to have read (and not in some kind of snooty way), especially given the way things are in the world, as you say.

Sorry to hear of the laptop! Hope it's fixed. (And I never would have known had you said. Good effort for writing/editing on your phone. I sometimes find it can be a bit laggy and make mistakes when doing so via mobile. Hopefully there will be an editing built specifically into the app at some point.)

I enjoyed the book but also found it alarmingly prescient. The sharing of stories verbally carried a sense of positivity, though, and I feel like that kind of telling of tales is sadly missing in modern society. Lack of enforced campfires, perhaps 😅

My laptop is an ex laptop unfortunately 🪦it’s been a struggle especially with such a small screen to work on.

I love that part of the book, how stories are spoken, written down, burnt and then spoken again.

Expand full comment

Well I hope you can procure a brand new one with a larger screen asap!

That’s the plan, funds are kinda low but fingers crossed 🤞🏽

A small something just winged its way to you to help out. It's not much, but I hope it means you can get that laptop a little faster.

Aww dude!!! That’s so so kind of you, I can’t thank you enough. That’s really made my week! 👌🏽☺️🎉

Lovely stuff. I'm embarrassed to say I only read it for the first time last year. It may be time for a re-read!
