I love this. It really made me think about the vast spectrum of ways in which people relate to isolation; how some people crave it, flourish in it, and how it’s a horrific prospect for others. I absolutely love the photo of him, laughing in the blue shirt. Really beautiful piece.

Thank you so much! Yes I’m always amazed how loneliness and isolation can affect people, for some it’s a blessing and others a curse. Thank you for reading 😊

Loving these essays, especially because I come across people and places I hadn't heard of.

If I'd had to have guessed, I would have thought Dungeness was in Scotland. It sounds very Scottish in name. If I still lived in England, I'd be tempted to pop down along the coast there.

There's something extra desolate about shingle beaches compared to sand beaches, for some reason. That opening shot of the house is quite striking.

Thank you so much! I guess that’s the good thing about having obscure tastes haha. Yes it does look a lot like Scotland, I’ve never visited but I’d love to go more than anything. Maybe one day.

You're writing ;-). Thank you for this insightful piece. I didn't know of Derek Jarman. He seemed like a great human and creative. I learn so much from you!
