Love this line (although scary!) - “technology and the human mind become enmeshed in a grotesque dance. “ also makes me think of Barberian Sound Studio. Do you know it? Really good. Thanks I haven’t seen this and will add it to my film list 😁
I'm delighted you wrote about this disgustingly irresistible film. Your essay is very profound and introspective. Have you by chance watched Crimes of the Future? Another gross but beautiful film.
Great essay and a great way to start off the spooky season🎉💃
This also presents a question for the future: From the time people first created technology to right now, ideas behind what we have seen are based on examples of human desires (even though we want to lay the blame on technology-again, that we as a species, came up with) by people brave enough to push boundaries. I dare ask-what will happen when human created AI starts to go to darker places that a majority of humans (minus a few insane historical, truly power hungry figures) are too afraid to tread?🤔
"Soon we will all have television names." So prophetic. I adore this film and most of Cronenberg's filmography.
haven’t thought about this film (or its implications) for quite some time ~ thank you for always offering a twist to something i think i may know.
You’re so welcome and thank you for reading 💕

Thank you! Yes I have but I’ve not seen it for ages, thank you for reminding me of it! Aces, let me know what you make of it 👌🏽
Not heard of that one Kate. Just looked it up. Sounds (!) pretty dark!
I did a "short take" on it. Totally bizarre!!

I've not thought about this film for decades. Needs a re-watch in today's light.

This film sounds so trippy - you’ve convinced me to watch it. Though perhaps not right before bed
Hope you enjoy, but yes maybe not before bed.
