I'll never quit writing, but I often think of no longer sharing it with others. My audience--the horror community--has a really ugly online contingent that makes engagement with them exhausting (and that's on the good days).
No quitting, please! This is a wonderfully vulnerable and reflective piece on the struggles each writer faces at least once in their life. I've been there.
You are loved and appreciated (even though you may feel otherwise at times)
Your writings give fantastic insight and bring to light to a theme that most people don’t want to acknowledge and in fact often ignore (doesn’t matter if the post is successful or not-the fact that you want to explore loneliness, write and share your findings with your fellow humans is beautiful)
You are a lovely human being with whom I’ve enjoyed many a conversation with, and I’m sure you’ve had beautiful conversations with more friends that you’ve made on this platform
We will understand if you need to take a break, but please know that we will be eternally sad if you quit and if we could give you encouragement face to face/in person, we would. You have so many things to say and we want to read them! (Because we are curious, nosy, inquisitive, and more <insert adjectives>💜)
This is just a long-winded way of saying, “Please don’t quit-we need your insights, thoughts, and perspectives on the things.”
It’s human to feel stuck and be in a dark place, and it is also human to help our friends come out of dark places. The dark place can be cozy and comfortable for a while, but it can also be isolating.
This is indeed all part of the balance that you so beautifully described in your writing.
Thank you for being brave and showing vulnerabilty. You are loved, appreciated, and your friendship means the world times infinity💞
Sincerely,
The lady whom you befriended on Substack via a very long thread on a post about Virginia Woolf that has turned into a wonderfully long email chain💜
Crying is also a form of release. Feel the feelings, hug them tight...then release them into the proverbial aether so that your creativity can be unblocked and you can feel the inspiration and joy of making art again💞
“For writers, their craft is more than a mere vocation; it becomes an integral part of their identity. When they abandon writing, they sever a vital connection to their inner selves and the world around them.” This is marvellously well-put and hit me like a Mack truck (in the best way).

Wise words 🙏🏻
Hope the community here is a lot friendlier!
So far, so good!
"Achieving a balance..." absolutely!
The creative community will always be there when you want, or need it.
Inspiration comes when you least expect it, when thoughts may be completely elsewhere. Be ready with a soggy notebook in the shower...

Well said, my friend.
You write from the heart and, as others have said, are loved and appreciated.
I've already learnt so many new things from your posts. Each one is so valuable. So please don't stop. Push through it. 🤗
Thank you so much, your kindness is helping me push through this the best I can.
